Jamila Kiwasi Apeh is a public health advocate and community organizer contributing 14 years and counting public servant leadership roles in assessing, creating, educating, organizing, and mobilizing system changes in population health. She specializes in the provision of professional development services across ALL disciplines while primarily offering support in professional areas of healthcare, birthwork, and health and human services,
Kiwasi is the Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Black Birthworkers Rock LLC, a national/international community-based movement for Black birthworkers. She is also the small business owner for Duafe Bellies, LLC, a wholistic maternal, postpartum, and beyond company designed to educate, support, empower, and encourage women to follow their needs and create a supportive community. Throughout her 18 years as a childbirth educator and birth doula, she has witnessed and serviced the many personal roles birthworkers maneuver throughout life while supporting birthing families. During her career journey, a question ignited her new mission, which she now serves.
Who supports Black Birthworkers?
Kiwasi is changing the narrative of the Black-Owned Birth Business. She is no longer practicing in birth doula support services. Her dedication is to support and empower the Black and Brown Birthworkers looking for guidance to start or rebrand a business on a grassroots and/or virtual platform.
